Past, present and future
Do you remember when you were a child
The world seemed to be endlessly wide
The trees seemed to reach into the sky
You flew to the stars in your dreams
Under every stone lay a mystery
Every day a new discovery
How slowly time passed at that time
Every day as long as a life
You spent hours chasing butterflies
How slowly time was ticking away
Every minute as long as a day
Life was one big game
Do you remember when you were a child
In your dreams you had wings to fly
With the eagles you flew into the sky
A new adventure behind every tree
Everything was possible in your dreams
Everything you want to be, you could be
How slowly time passed when you
were a child
Every day as long as a life
You spent hours staring at the clouds in the sky
How slowly time was trickling away
Every minute as long as a day
Life was one big game
Then you grew older and you went to school
About the seriousness of life, they told you
Told you what to think, told you what to do
But you also learned to read
in the school
There were new adventures to discover for you
New worlds arose in your room
Agonizingly slowly time passed
When forever the lessons seemed to last
And the teachers bored you to death
On the other hand, time flew by fast
When in stories and books, you lost yourself
New adventures in faraway realms
Then in Highschool, a new world again
Every night was turned into day
And the first love carried you away
Do you remember your first kiss
You were so nervous that you nearly missed
There were a lot of kisses after this
The times were exciting, the times
were wild
A little learning by day and parties by night
All in all, it was a carefree time
The future seemed to be so far away
But this time too, had to end some day
The real life was knocking at your doorway
Then you met a girl and you fell in
love
You moved together and you took this job
And your girl got pregnant, you finally grew up
Now you are working day by day
Working hard from early to late
Cause there are bills to settle and there's the rent to be paid
Now you’re
standing in the middle of life
Now you’re a family man, it should feel right
But something is missing you feel sometimes
It must have been ages since you gazed at the sky
And that you counted the clouds, it’s been a long time
And since you read a book, it’s been quite a while
And tomorrow you’re old
and you ‘ll think about
What happened to you and what you missed out
And sometimes you look up to the clouds
And tomorrow you look back and you
see
Your whole life and what has been
And you ask yourself what happened to you dreams
