Walt
He’s sitting in the kitchen
Waiting by the phone
Absorbed in thought
Walt is worrying about his son
No news, no phone call
For so many days
He’s praying for his son
Who’s so far away
Staring at the TV
Waiting for the news
Paralyzed by these fears,
By this uncertainty
There are these pictures
Of exploding mines
He’s praying for his son,
Praying that he’s alive
His wife Ann
Is staring at her hands
Her eyes are filled with tears
They don’t talk about their fears
He was a soldier himself
Had served in Vietnam
Maybe he set a bad example
For his three sons
His eldest son
Was killed in action in Iraq
His second son
Is lost in Syria
Now his youngest son
Is fighting in Afghanistan
Is servicing to his country
In this bloody war
He’s sitting in the kitchen
Waiting by the phone
Absorbed in thought
Walt is worrying about his son
His wife Ann
Is staring at her hands
Her eyes are filled with tears
They don’t talk about their fears
