The city (part 1)
The sound of my steps
Melt into the city noise
I meander through the streets lost in thoughts.
Someone jostles me
Mumbles an excuse while moving on
Torn out of my thoughts I look around.
Above the street canyon
The daylight wastes a final goodbye
The drizzle on the tarmac reflects the neon lights.
The subway gates still spitting people
Coming home from work
Another bustling day slowly expires.
Shopkeepers are closing their stores
A waiter’s folding napkins in a restaurant
The city prinks for the night
Nameless people are hurrying by
There’s a fleeting glimpse sometimes
Nameless faces with unknown stories behind.
