Thoughts of a sleepless night

Well it’s late
She is sleeping for a long time, he’s still awake
Thoughts rustle by
And memories like a movie appear and fade
Her face reflects her dreams
Her breath spreads a kind of peace
And he wishes
He could tell her how much he loves her.

Then he thinks
How fast this happiness can fade
And there are the fears
That one day she could be away
What will be when she’s gone
Life will be senseless and forlorn
What will be if nevertheless
The cancer wins

And he turns to her
Sees her eyes – it’s alright
And he puts out the light,
Lays back and kisses her good night.
